Most people will seek out chiropractic or physical therapy treatments when they have a problem. This problem is usually phrased as “I have pain here” or “It hurts when I do this.” While this is completely normal, pain is NOT the problem but rather a symptom of the problem. Too often we find patients are focused on their pain rather than function, and will stop receiving treatment once their pain is gone.
Call it maintenance, wellness or check-ups, continued treatment is absolutely necessary for long term health benefits. Think of it this way, would you go to the gym 6 times then stop because you feel better? Of course not! You keep going because it helps you continue to feel great.
Here are 5 reasons we recommend regular visits for Chiropractic, Physical therapy or Massage therapy:
If you’re a New England Patriots fan, you might have heard of Tom Brady’s recent high-ankle sprain. While painful, the damage he suffered is not uncommon in contact sports like football, and sprains especially are one of the most pervasive sports injuries.
Sports injuries are classified as bodily damage most commonly sustained while engaging in sports or exercise. You don’t have to be playing a rough-and-tumble sport to receive them. Dancing, running, and lifting weights can all lead to sports injuries.
Plantar fasciitis can be a painful condition, but there is a treatment plan for it
What is it?
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the fibrous band of tissue that spans the length of the foot connecting the heel to the toes. The plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber and supports the medial longitudinal arch of the foot. When excessive stress is applied to the plantar fascia through a specific event or cumulative trauma, an inflammatory responds may develop, causing a very painful condition with weight bearing activities. Chronic inflammation may eventually cause a heel spur that is visible via X-ray.
Often, when people think of prehab or rehab, they immediately think of physical therapy. But did you know, Chiropractors are also qualified to prescribe therapeutic exercises? Fortunately, here at Progressive Spine & Rehab Center, we offer BOTH chiropractic and physical therapy.
You’ve heard of rehab to help you recover after surgery. But increasing evidence suggests steps taken before you head to the operating room can improve what happens afterward.
